A welcome thank you: GSDH likes to work for FIFA - and not only because the FIFA sent two people from GSDH as fairies with two Category 1 tickets to the sensational GER-ARG game last Saturday! The GSDH creative agency has supported the FIFA already before in the management of various extensive printing projects as well as their distribution in the country, in cooperation with Sven MĂĽller Design.
Saturday saw more than 300,000 fans surge through Cape Town’s Fan Mile, rejoicing in happy anticipation of the big game. GSDH’s Genie and Hanne were delighted to be among them, holding tickets to one of the most exciting events of this World Cup. It was gigantic …
The question however, is whether it was the four goals that quickened their pulses, or was it rather Ballack, who sat pretty close to us (and had to recognize, how replaceable he is …). Hanne and Genie say: Thanks FIFA, thanks Christian!
We’ve waited a long time, but now it’s finally here. The Football World Cup 2010 is upon us. For the first time, the World Cup takes place in an African country. That’s why South Africans are even prouder to host the 2010 World Cup.
Just in time for the big event, GSDH has created an exclusive African World Cup e-card. Fans can create a funny animated greeting card, enter their country and choose a slogan to show support for their favorite team at the 2010 World Cup. The card can then be sent by email or shared with friends on Facebook.

This year there is a real boom in 3D movies. In 2010 alone, more than twenty 3D films will be released in theaters. One of these films, Streetdance 3D, started in German cinemas on the 3rd of June with much success. With 132 000 visitors Streetdance 3D climbed to No. 2 in the cinema charts -despite the great summer weather, making it the best movie start after ‘Sex and the City 2′.
We had the exciting and challenging task of implementing the entire online campaign for Universum Film. This included strategy, concept, design, programming as well as all the online advertising and ongoing support.
The website is designed to reflect the 3D feeling of the film, through the use of animation and layering. On the site, the user can watch the official trailer with 3-D glasses, browse the extensive image gallery, read background information on the film, trigger a reminder for the film and download some great goodies to get you in a dancing mood.
We are very happy, that our campaign could contribute to this huge success of the film and thank Universum Film very much for their co-operation.

After the peaceful underwater world of Unsere Ozeane, our newest project for Universum returns us to the hail of bullets again in the form of From Paris with Love, the action-packed new film starring John Travolta as the unorthodox secret agent Charlie Wax.
At least as awesome and entertaining as the movie is the online-campaign (including concept development, website design and banner campaign) produced by GSDH. The official movie site includes the trailer, an exciting gallery and a reminder service, as well as background information about the story, characters and cast which will provide the user with insights into the high-action world of secret agents. There are great downloadable goodies like the From Paris with Love Screensaver (get it here).
The result is a site which fully captures the action-packed spirit and style of this film: Welcome to Paris, Baby!

It was quite a while ago that we first raised our glasses to the meeting of Bavarian tradition and Cape Town creativity when GSDH was put in charge of the entire online presence of the Bavarian Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan.
We have now completed the most important part of our task: the new website is online! While staying true to Weihenstephan’s long-established visual identity, we have brought a fresh look and new approach to the brand’s presence on the web.
This collaboration has resulted in a site through which the user can fully explore the world of Weihenstephan, find out about the history of the world’s oldest brewery and discover how the beer is brewed, and engage with fun interactive extras.
The Weihenstephan Beer Game, for example, is already getting a lot of positive reactions. In this game, the user can practice pouring the perfect glass of Weihenstephan HefeweiĂźbier. They can then post the result directly from the site on their Facebook Wall via Facebook Connect or they can send it to a friend.

The production of World Cup advertising material is running at full speed in South Africa at the moment and foreign companies are looking for agencies like us who are familiar with the country.
So was Sven MĂĽller Design when they entrusted us with the production of their FIFA advertising materials for two big exhibitions in Cape Town and Johannesburg. We gladly took over the complete handling here on-site and found this a great opportunity to show the high professional standard of South African suppliers.
Sven MĂĽller Design is happy that their brochures not only meet European standards but were also produced and delivered quickly and efficiently, and South Africa is looking forward to many orders still to come from all over the world.

GAMER, the latest science fiction masterpiece by Universum Film, will be in German cinemas in January. The opening of the movie will be supported by the official movie site – conceived and designed by GSDH. This amazing flash website will help to build anticipation for this upcoming action spectacle.
Just like the movie, the website encompasses three different worlds. Game - the malicious shooter game entitled “Slayer”, where real prisoners are used by gamers as avatars to fight each other to death. The second world Society – also uses mind-control technology. This world is a shrill, decadent and unscrupulous virtual society. The third world is Reality – the real world, in which millions of people follow the controversial games.
Leading actor Gerard Butler as Kable and his wife Angie, played by Amber Valletta, are both captured in the games and are struggling to escape from them.
The user can navigate between those three worlds and experience different exciting flash designs while he browses through the gallery, has a look behind the scenes or discovers all the special goodies. Next to the homepage we will also be responsible for inGame advertising and banner campaigns.

Castro has just launched a new range of their ultra-fashionable clothes with a very exiting campaign that’s sure to spread like wildfire. The Castro Campus Tour is set to go around universities in Germany to enlist students to re-enact some of the photographs that were taken for the current Castro Fashion Guide. Each photograph will be uploaded to the Castro Campus Tour website that was designed and developed by GSDH. Once the photographs are uploaded the public can vote on their favorite! 20 winners will be chosen and given 100 Euro’s each with which they can ignite a shopping fever at any Castro store.

Once upon a time on a grey and rainy day in Cape Town, ten pirates were about to search for their new office. A mysterious Belgian had told them that inside this office they would find some precious buried treasure.
They couldn’t agree on the perfect plan so they split into small groups, each finding the way in their own special manner: The programmers followed strange numbers on an extra wooden leg that only they could understand. The designers grabbed their drawing boards, hoisted a poster and set sail towards the new office! The project managers had prepared their plan days ago and set off on course. When all the groups arrived at their new office they were puzzled to find the CEO’s, who had left after all of them. How the CEOs had found the way, nobody knows to this day.
And there it was, the magnificent treasure: a large and incredible ping-pong table in the middle of their new fortress. They knew immediately that here work would be even more fun and immediately they started working on their exciting projects.
We’d like to spread the joy that we’re getting out of our new ping-pong table, so go ahead and click on the pong table in the middle of the map. Let the games begin!

GSDH was approached by Kochan & Partner, Munich, to realize an informative website for FH Coburg, university of applied sciences. The central theme behind the website is to make students feel at home, so all information is displayed through handy magazines which are placed on a typical student desk.

GSDH was approached by PHILIPS Healthcare for a new internet presence for the 90th Roentgen Convention. The large medical convention takes place from the 20th to the 23rd of May and provides advanced training opportunities, workshops and scientific speeches. The convention has attracted over 7000 visitors in the last few years.
GSDH has created a microsite for Philips which presents the newest techniques and machines for the Roentgen Convention.

Exciting new key visual for SAE launch in Cape Town
We got an exciting brief from SAE college Cape Town, to create a single key visual to promote the launch of the local branch. This visual would be the cornerstone of all their online and print promotional material.
SAE is an internationally renowned media school with branches all over the world. In fact, both founders of GSDH have studied at SAE colleges in Sydney and Germany respectively. They offer state of the art equipment and innovative teaching techniques to students with ambitions of conquering the extremely competitive media industry.
The challenge was to create a single visual that could be adopted to promote the following courses, Audio Production, Interactive Media Design, Film and Animation.
The design itself was a collaborative effort between Genie Botha, and the David Maclennan. It combined hand drawn illustrations and typography with fresh colours and a strong layout to appeal to prospective SAE students.

GSDH created a high quality website for the Bay Consulting Crew, a company which specializes in the fields of auditing and legal advice.
The design draws parallels between the challenging sport of sailing and the company’s values and ethics.
Sailing is a discipline based on, precision and teamwork, where highest professionalism with regard to concentration, communication and execution is required, especially during turbulent and challenging times.
Likewise, the Bay Consulting Crew is characterized by all of the mentioned skills and is thus able to serve clients on the highest level.
GSDH received the exciting order to implement these skills within one website and has been able to pilot the ship safely into the harbor…

The eggs within Bernbacher’s egg noodles are only laid by happy bavarian outdoor chicken. The tough gangster and killer Chev Chelios is back, and is now in need of electricity to keep his new artificial heart beating. His real heart has been stolen by triad mugger Johnny Vang. Vang wants to use Chev’s heart to vitalize triad boss Hu Dong’s life. Slowly but surely, Chev is running out of time…

After Rob went back to his belgian home, GSDH now has a new member of the graphic design department.
David, a real Capetownian, was at Michaelis School of Fine Art from 2003 until 2006, majoring in sculpture and new media before he realised that he would rather work in graphics. So he did CityVarsity´s Multimedia Design and Production course, finishing at the end of 2008.
He has a strong focus on hand-drawn graphics and illustration, and an interest in combining traditional, physical media with a digital product. Here is an example and we are really looking forward for more of his work…

As usual we are starting the year off with a blast! As you know we love Philips and Philips loves our work. After our Philips Camelrace has finished off as a great success in December 2008 Philips Healthcare Germany asked us to produce a new microsite for one of their solutions.
This as well as the rest of our current projects look extremely promising and so we are looking forward to another exciting year and do invite you to join the ride…

GSDH have achieved great success! On the 2nd of December “Annual Multimedia – Yearbook of Digital Marketing 2009” was published, and we were awarded for our b4u-studio website. Our team is truly honored to have received this award, and are eagerly working towards our next one.

After listening to his mix I was so inxpired that I created one of my own (a 30 minute mixtape of really cool chillout songs for those hectic mondays) and sent it in to him. Last week Friday we left our computers at the office and headed outside to enjoy the springtime sunshine and to get our hands dirty for a good cause.
We volunteered our various creative talents to the “New Kidz on the Block” initiative and participated in the revamp of the Nokhwezi EduCare Centre in Mfuleni close to Khayelitsha.
“New Kidz On The Block” is an organisation with the heart in the right place. We joined other volunteers in the valant effort to revamp the daycare centre in just one weekend (eat that, Debbie Travis!!!).
For us, it was a great experience in team building. By the end of the day we were splattered with paint from head to toe and happy with the knowledge that our efforts helped to improve the lives of so many children less fortunate than us.

Philipp Hartmann and Steven Mewissen lead a workshop last week at the GSDH assessment centre in search of some highly trained professionals. Applicants were asked to part take in our company sing & dance to prove their worth. Those who failed to do the moves correctly, and with the right style, were eliminated (watch out for the lady in pink who fails to turn around).
After a rigorous and grueling session there was much debate about which candidate had the right qualities to be accepted into the company. We watched the video footage over and over only to come to one conclusive decision; unfortunately none of the applicants had the flair that we were looking for. The date for the second workshop will be announced shortly - good luck next time!
