We’ve waited a long time, but now it’s finally here. The Football World Cup 2010 is upon us. For the first time, the World Cup takes place in an African country. That’s why South Africans are even prouder to host the 2010 World Cup.
Just in time for the big event, GSDH has created an exclusive African World Cup e-card. Fans can create a funny animated greeting card, enter their country and choose a slogan to show support for their favorite team at the 2010 World Cup. The card can then be sent by email or shared with friends on Facebook.

The time has come: after the action-packed start of our online campaign for the film From Paris with Love the viral aspect of the campaign is now active. Here the user can test how much “Wax” he is. Edited film excerpts are shown and the user can see if they are on the same wavelength as Special Agent Charlie Wax (played by John Travolta) by predicting what Wax will say next. Depending on the number of correctly answered questions the user is assigned to a certain Wax-category. Via Facebook Share and Tell-a-Friend functionality, the users can publish their quiz results on Facebook and share it with friends.

After the peaceful underwater world of Unsere Ozeane, our newest project for Universum returns us to the hail of bullets again in the form of From Paris with Love, the action-packed new film starring John Travolta as the unorthodox secret agent Charlie Wax.
At least as awesome and entertaining as the movie is the online-campaign (including concept development, website design and banner campaign) produced by GSDH. The official movie site includes the trailer, an exciting gallery and a reminder service, as well as background information about the story, characters and cast which will provide the user with insights into the high-action world of secret agents. There are great downloadable goodies like the From Paris with Love Screensaver (get it here).
The result is a site which fully captures the action-packed spirit and style of this film: Welcome to Paris, Baby!

Final Draw in Cape Town: after this weekend, we finally know who’s playing against who in the first round of the World Cup. Now the soccer fever is spreading and the whole world celebrated the opening of this major event with South Africa.
While a relaxed Charlize Theron announced the team groupings at the CTICC, the crowd watching the event on giant screens in Long Street went crazy.
This is just a small impression of what was going on here on Friday, 200 meters away from our office.

Here at GSDH we find that there is nothing more satisfying than having happy clients, and we’re ecstatic to ad Castro to that list.

Professionelle Softwareentwicklung mit PHP – so lautet das Thema des dritten PHP World Kongress im November in München. Auftakt der Veranstaltung bildet am 24.11. die Keynote von Pierre Joye, einem der Kernentwickler von PHP unter Windows. Im weiteren Tagesverlauf erfahren die Teilnehmer warum und wie objektorientierte Programmierung in PHP das Leben einfacher macht, was alles in Windows Azure steckt oder wie die Softwareentwicklung im Team am besten geplant, verwaltet und strukturiert werden sollte.
Am 25.11. ist in verschiedenen Workshops Gelegenheit fĂĽr den Austausch mit Referenten und die Anwendung des Wissens. Auf der Agenda stehen TYPO3- und PHP-5-Zertifizierung, Suchmaschinenoptimierung und Entwurfsmuster mit PHP.

As one can never be 100% prepared for what the future holds, we are always watching out for fresh talents in this field.
We have kept SwitchOn(Training) as our little secret when it comes to sourcing good Flash programmers, but have now decided to let the world know about this excellent establishment! SwitchOn(Training) is a Flash and Actionscript school in Cape Town that is dedicated and passionate about improving the quality of Flash training in the local Flash community.

Apple has just launched a unique iPhone application, the Bavarian iFlirt Cam. The application has been released just in time for the Octoberfest and combines Bavarian tradition with the latest technology.
From September 19th, every owner of an iPhone can send Bavarian greetings to their friends and family. The application allows you to choose from a wide range of Bavarian style frames with typical Bavarian sayings and combine them with one of your photos. One can adjust the size and position of the image to fit the frame perfectly, and then sent via E-Mail and saved to your iPhone.
The Bavarian iFlirt Cam will make it easier to flirt or put a smile on other peoples faces at Oktoberfest. With a bit of luck, you may even win the E-Mail address of your new contact.

This year’s prio.conference on the 28th and 29th of October is all about User Interfaces. Two days of lectures and seminars covering the latest technologies and concepts in software usability. No commentsA lot has happened since we have started working with SAE. The last campaign was our Post It action. The idea: To create additional intereste to SAE’s open day on June 21st we came up with five inventive jingles to advertise SAE’s technical and creative excellence. These jingles were printed onto oversized Post-It notes. Hundreds of these were then posted by our guerrilla marketing team in trendy areas like Long st. and Kloof st. and also in and around some of the schools in Cape Town. The campaign was very successful in attracting attention to the event. It was an absolute blast to be part of this project, and we cannot wait for our next project with SAE.
25.6.08 Update: SAE South Africa as well as the head of SAE International marketing loved the campaign & overall feedback on all sides was overwhelming. Also check SAE South Africa’s facebook account for more pictures. Happy clients, happy us!
