If we go ahead to recruit superior talents, we start as GSDH CTDOHC (Cape Town Digital Olympic Handball Club) in the South African Championship, win that and the continent’s Champions League the year after. How come? Our new intern Svenja has played Handball on a high level back in Germany – just as her predecessor Franzi – and would probably belong to the best players south of the Zambezi River.
To the best interns available on the transfer market she belonged anyway. Svenja has eagerly pursued international studies of Global Managment in Bremen, Germany, (where she played for the famous SV Werder) and came to South Africa to gain international experience for her international studies. She started with a semester at South Africa’s oldest university in Stellenbosch where she learned Afrikaans (best Afrikaans speaking handball player then, no doubt). Studying in South Africa was much harder than in Germany with many more duties and tests. (So much for the famous German diligence.)
Svenja is happy now to have a break from theories and to go ahead at GSDH with practical stuff. She’s also happy for the wind that’s cooling down the current summer heat and makes it much more bearable than in Stellenbosch’s back-country. Heat is something she suffers from, Svenja says. Well, so there’s at least one reason for her to look forward going back to the European autumn in a couple of month.
